How much does it cost?
The DSE programme is made possible through the generosity and commitment of the doctors who take part in the programme without charge. Most of your fee goes towards the 'Make a child smile' cleft palate surgery fund at CIDS.
The cost of the 5-week course is £899.
This fee covers:
The 4 week elective programme at CIDS
Training visits to the villages to see the health community programme
A week of visits to projects in Mysore
Board and lodging in Coorg
A week's full board and accommodation at the Green Hotel, Mysore
Collection from Calicut airport or Mysore train station
Transfer to Mysore
It does not include fares or insurance.
Depending on your love of shopping, and travel at the weekends your spending levels are likely to be low. It could be as low as £100 for the month.
Neither CAT nor CIDS provide any bursaries. Information on available bursaries for dental electives is available from individual medical schools. Past students have also advised contacting the British Dental Association for advice on funding. It provides some funds towards dental electives, and applications are judged twice a year.
CAT subsidises the programme by funding the marketing and administration of the scheme.
